Employment numbers stay strong in Singapore

The service sector is driving employment numbers higher in Singapore, reports the Ministry of Manpower. A total of 68,400 new jobs were added during the first quarter, 42,900 of which were in the service sector. Unemployment remained low at 2%.

The service sector has been impacted by increased construction of luxury hotels. These businesses are seeking 100,000 or more new employees in the areas of wait staff, chefs, event planning and administrative staff.
